| Fairchild Semiconductor wins prestigious Power Product Innovation Award in China Fairchild Semiconductor, a leading global supplier of high performance power and mobile products, has received a prestigious award for innovation from Electronic Engineering and Product World (EEPW), one of China's key electronic design publications, in the magazine's annual Power Products Awards.
The FL7701 Smart Non-isolated Buck LED Driver with power factor correction (PFC) received a Best Innovation Product of the Year Award in the highly competitive LED Driver category. The award was based on both the views of industry experts and online voting. The award was presented to Fairchild at the EEPW Power Products Awards event ceremony, held on 25 May in Shenzhen.
"Naturally, we are very pleased to have won this influential award," said Wang Jian, sales director for China, at Fairchild. "Our FL7701 LED driver achieves cost savings in a versatile, small footprint format that actually extends the lifetime of the lighting itself. The FL7701 driver optimizes the design flow and speeds time-to-market. We are glad that it has been recognized as an industry-leading product."
The FL7701 uses a digital technique that allows it to automatically detect the AC input voltage, allowing it to create a special internal reference signal that results in high power factor correction. The device will also work from a DC input voltage condition, automatically sensing AC versus DC input voltage conditions.
The FL7701 combines high functional density in a small form factor that provides up to 20 percent lower bill of material (BOM) costs and up to 60 percent board space savings. The high degree of integration designed into the FL7701 provides the high reliability required to increase the luminary lifespan to more than five years, compared to the three years achievable by current solutions.
Available in an SOP-8 package, the FL7701 is ideal for low-power interior and ornamental lighting, whether PAR, Reflector, MR, E26/E27 or Bi-Pin base LED lamps.
Fairchild offers a total solution portfolio for low- (<20W), mid- (20W to 50W) and high- (>50W) LED driver applications. Our highly integrated PWM and PFC controller solutions reduce component BOM counts to enable smaller lamp sizes and eliminate design complexities, while improving overall lighting efficiency. In addition, Fairchild's Global Power ResourceSM Center comprised of online tools, FAEs and regional centers staffed by power engineers, is the industry standard for customer design support.
